This blog is offensive to Eclare fans! Why are you still running this?
This is meant to be a joke. An exaggeration. A parody. This isn’t meant to honestly depict or portray Eclare fans. And besides, we’re not forcing anyone to read this.
But this blog is still inaccurate! Not all Eclare fans are like this!
Again, we know. This is supposed to be a joke. It’s a meme after all. And this is is supposed to be the “crazy” Eclare fangirl. As in the irrational ones. Not the rational supporters.
Do you like Eclare?
The pastries? Yes. The couple? Not really. Other than the whole wish fulfillment thing, we both think they’re an overrated couple. And their antics/drama/shenanigans never really amused either of us.
Do you like Eli and Clare as individual characters?
I don’t hate Clare. Clare was one of my favorite characters when I was watching Degrassi for the first time during the January 2011 marathon for S8. I thought she was a breath of fresh air. She’s a prude, but we know why: Catholic school. When Emma or Liberty was a ‘feminist’ or a ‘prude’, it was for no reason and it was forgotten about later on. But for Clare the writers gave her a reason for why she is this way. I went to a private school for 8 years and her behavior was completely understandable.
And I don’t necessarily hate Eli. It feels like he just gets new powers/interests as the plot demands and he’s left off the hook so much. Music, then writing, then directing a play, then driving. I understand the artsy stuff are correlated so it’s not too unlikely that you’re only good in one of them, but it’s so Marty Stu ish of him. Or how he spiked Fitz’s drink and got him arrested over a PARKING SPOT. I forgot if they had a rivalry pre-MBiaC, but Eli could’ve very easily just keep driving for a new spot. And in AFD (I abbreviate everything like crazy, if you haven’t noticed), Clare is the wrong one for being annoyed with Eli for spiking the drink. He never got any backlash in the fanbase. Other characters do slightly bad things or stuff on the same level (Dave tasering Wesley, the entire fake pregnancy plot, etc.), and they get hate groups for it. But nothing happened to Eli for it.
Do you like Munro Chambers and Aislinn Paul as actors?
Eh, no, but to be fair, we’re not really crazy about anyone’s acting on Degrassi. We also don’t really notice anyone’s acting unless it’s really good or really bad. We watch Degrassi for entertainment, not to analyze acting.
Which couples do you ship?
Most couples tend to have flaws that get in the way of shipping them, so we don’t really ship people that much. Plus, it gets messy in the community. But Palex and Sellie are okay in our books.
Which characters do you like?
Ashley, Alex, Paige, Sean, Ellie, Alli (When she’s not boy crazy), Terri, and Anya.
